Dr. Raffi Krikorian has turned wound care into an art form. He is always creating better solutions for his patients, willing to push beyond the limits of traditional treatments. He listens to every patient, genuinely wanting to solve their issues. He believes health and beauty are intertwined, and has developed exceptional expertise at restoring vein health while leaving beautiful results.

Constantly striving to improve care for his patients, Dr. Krikorian stays up-to-date on cutting-edge medical technologies and techniques by attending national forums and receiving one-on-one, hands-on training with national experts in the fields of venous and lymphatic medicine. As a member of The vWIN Foundation, his continuous learning and depth of experience allows him to bring the best and most modern treatments to his patients.

Dr. Krikorian always provides the highest standards of treatment. All of his in-office testing is accredited by IAC Vascular Testing. Dr. Krikorian is one of only a few board-certified cardiologists to also have a strong interest in the vascular, venous, and lymphatic medicine components of overall health. As both owner and medical director of Virtue Non-healing Wound Clinic, he brings a unique, positive approach to the diverse needs of his patients

What Is a Chronic, Non-healing Wound?

A chronic wound is a wound that fails to progress through the normal stages of wound healing. It is as if these wounds have “forgotten” how to heal. The wound may be present for only a month, or may have been present for several years. Regardless of the type of wound, chronic wounds typically do not improve with routine treatment.

Why Do Chronic Wounds Fail to Heal?

While much research is being done to answer this question, we know that there are some common reasons why chronic wounds fail to heal. One of the most important is lack of adequate blood flow to the wound. Infection within the wound and poor general nutrition are other important factors. Underlying illnesses, such as cancer or diabetes, can cause a general impairment in the body’s ability to heal wounds. Other reasons include a history of prior radiation exposure and unrelieved pressure on the wounded area.

When should you seek treatment for your wound at Our Wound Healing Center?

  • You have had a sore that won’t heal for more than 30 days (commonly experienced by people with diabetes).
  • You have a sore with increasing pain, redness or swelling, foul odor or a change in color.
  • You have a surgical wound that has become infected.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

  • A list of any medications you’re currently taking, including vitamins and supplements
  • A written list of allergies you may have
  • Medical records including x-ray films if you have them
  • Insurance forms or cards

What’s my role in healing?

Much of the success of your treatment depends on you. We’ll count on you to follow directions carefully and watch your progress closely. You will learn about caring for your wound at home including how to change dressings and how to protect yourself from further injuries. We’re always here to answer questions and give you the support you need to heal.
